Delighted with the success of the first of its three regional handling shows, exhibition organiser Quartz is looking forward to the second – ShD South East – which takes place at the Kent Showground, near Maidstone, on 17th September.

Fresh from a successful inaugural show in Scotland, exhibition organiser Quartz is now heavily promoting ShD South East, a brand-new event that will showcase a diverse range of materials handling equipment and services. The name behind the UK’s largest logistics exhibition – IMHX – Quartz is highly experienced in organising successful events. Launched under the title of the company’s leading materials handling magazine – ShD: Storage, Handling, Distribution – the series of three regional events meets a genuine demand in the market-place.

Explains Managing Director, Paul Michael, “With these new shows, we’ve filled a gap in the market and the response from visitors and exhibitors alike has been tremendously supportive. We are actively promoting ShD South East now and we’re convinced that the region’s vibrant economy will help to underpin the success of this new event.”

Economy buoyant
The South East’s economy is undoubtedly buoyant. The region’s excellent location, close to both the capital and the Continent, gives it tremendous advantages over other UK regions. Incorporating the ports of Dover, Southampton and Felixstowe, the Channel Tunnel and the new high-speed rail link, plus all the London airports, the South East is the natural gateway to Europe and beyond. The most successful regional economy after London, the South East contains no less than 22% of England’s motorway network, has an estimated output of £177 billion – roughly the same size economy as Norway – and, at 8.2 million, the largest regional population in the UK.

A visit will definitely be worthwhile
With the added benefit of a live demonstration area, ShD South East promises to be highly informative and extremely time-effective for visitors. Says Darrel Williams, Managing Director of Psion Teklogix, “The introduction of voice recognition systems that enable warehouse employees to have their eyes and hands free during their daily routine can have a dramatic impact on productivity levels. But it is not only beneficial in an order selection scenario. The system can also be applied to achieve significant efficiencies throughout the entire supply chain operation – from goods-in to put-away, replenishment and even dispatch.”

Fork-lift manufacturer Linde (stand number 37) will be promoting its range of warehouse and yard trucks, with a special focus on ride-on pallet trucks and 3-wheel electric counterbalance trucks. Featuring ergonomic design for productive operation, the Linde ride-on pallet trucks benefit from an active castor wheel system, providing an optimum combination of stability and grip in all conditions. The highly manoeuvrable 3-wheel electric counterbalance series features a unique suspension system, minimizing vibrations to ensure operator comfort. The Austrian group TGW Logistics (stand number 20) will use the show to promote its brand-new, fully automated depalletising unit, SPLITEX. The product separates each layer and each carton from a pallet load, delivering them to an automated conveyor system which feeds further operations. Separating 35 fully loaded pallets per hour with a very low noise level, SPLITEX can handle packages from 0.5kg through to 35kg.
