ShD Scotland – the first of three brand-new regional material handling shows from IMHX organiser, Quartz – was a resounding success and paves the way for further exhibitions in the region.

Held at Glasgow’s SECC on the 22nd and 23rd April, ShD Scotland featured over 50 companies and a live demonstration area. A showcase of innovative ideas to help reduce costs and maximise supply chain efficiency, the show attracted specifiers, buyers and decision-makers from a wide range of industries and from across the region.

Declaring the inaugural show successful, Event Director Rob Fisher commented, “We’ve certainly proved the worth of this new venture. There’s a clear demand for a regional handling show in Scotland and we’ve had pleasing feedback from exhibitors, including some fantastic results over the two days.”

Steve Surridge, UK Sales Manager for Aisle-Master Ltd, said, “We were extremely satisfied with the leads we took. They represented a good cross-section of potential customers from a diverse variety of sectors.” The company even managed to sell its display model off the stand to a local customer.

Doosan’s UK Dealer Manager, Jason Jordan, confirmed that the event had been a good one for his regional dealers. “We invited a customer to the show specifically to get him to see a certain truck. The fact that we could park it in an outside area contributed to us being able to sign the deal at the show.” In addition to that £35,000 order, Doosan sold a second truck that the company had on display and took a serious enquiry for 40 more vehicles.

Two more shows this year
There will be a further two regional handling events this year: ShD South East takes place on September 17th at the Kent Showground, near Maidstone, and ShD South West will be staged at the Westpoint Centre in Exeter on 12th November.
